DEFENDER AND THE RED CROSS

HELPING OUR FRONT-LINE HEROES GO ABOVE AND BEYOND

As the world faces an extraordinary challenge, Jaguar Land Rover is focusing efforts towards supporting our global communities in the fight against the COVID-19 virus.

Jaguar and Land Rover have deployed hundreds of vehicles to support global emergency response organisations during the coronavirus crisis, with a total of 57 vehicles – including 27 New Defenders – going to the British Red Cross to help deliver medicine and food to vulnerable people across the UK.

Protective equipment is also being donated to the NHS’s Royal Bolton Hospital, St James's Hospital in Leeds and Birmingham Children's Hospital while Jaguar Land Rover continues to work closely with the UK government, offering its research and engineering expertise to help support efforts to tackle the virus.

NEW DEFENDER

MEET THE NEW DEFENDER 90

We're excited to announce that the Defender 90 has now joined the New Defender range, alongside the 110.

The compact three-door Defender 90 is 43.5cm shorter than its bigger, five-door 110 sibling, but makes no compromise on practicality, thanks to the optional jump seat, which creates room for up to six passengers.

DEFENDER AND PROFESSOR GERRY MCGOVERN OBE

REPLACING AN ICON – NEW DEFENDER'S DESIGN STORY

As one of the world’s leaders in the field of automotive design, we’re proud to partner with the London Design Museum in celebrating creative excellence. Earlier this year, Professor Gerry McGovern OBE, Chief Creative Officer at Land Rover took to the stage at the Design Museum’s ‘Friday Lates’ programme to share the design story behind the New Defender, including the challenges faced in replacing such an iconic vehicle. Gerry McGovern was joined by Chief Designer of Land Rover Exteriors, Andy Wheel, who delivered a pop-up presentation in the museum’s central Atrium followed by a talk led by Gerry in the main auditorium and Q&A with Land Rover Design Director of Colour and Materials, Amy Frascella.

Visitors had the chance to see two Defender prototypes up close and the inaugural LR1 Design Concept vehicle, the first iteration of New Defender as we see it today.

Watch these videos to hear Gerry, Andy and Amy discuss how the Land Rover Design Team have reimagined the New Defender for the modern world.
